This has been a difficult line to research as we know little or nothing of the Anderson's prior to my Grandmother:-

Jessie Anderson.

We have though, recently discovered the marriage details of my Great-Grandparents in Glasgow.

Alexander Anderson married Mary Hill
on 12 November 1875
at 64 Parson Street, Glasgow,
according to the forms of the Primitive Methodist Church.

Alexander Anderson is listed as a Shoemaker Journeyman, aged 22, living at
50 Struthers Street, Calton, Glasgow. His parents were Alexander Anderson
(Woolen Weaver) and Margaret Stevenson.

Mary Hill is listed as a Cotton Spinner, aged 20, living at the same address.
Her parents were James Hill (Shoemaker Journeyman) and Mary McClear
(or possibly McClean - the writing is fancy rather than legible.)

The witnesses were John Caldwell and Catherine Hill.

The children we know of are:-

Jessie Anderson (my Grandmother)
Polly (possibly Mary)
Christina

Jessie ANDERSON (my Grandmother) - was born 4 May 1892 in 12 Welltrees Street, Maybole, Ayrshire.
She died 18 May 1961 in 7 Allans Hill, Maybole, Ayrshire and was buried in Maybole, Ayrshire.

Jessie also had a liason with a Mr McFARLAND which resulted in the following child
(her first child):-

Mary ANDERSON- was born 1912.

Jessie then married James Hazel JESS, son of David JESS and Mary Wason BROWN, on 5 Dec 1913 in 96 Daily Road, Maybole.
James was born 23 May 1887 in Craigfin, Maybole, Ayrshire. He died 6 Mar 1959 in Ballochmyle Hospital and was buried in Maybole, Ayrshire.
Information taken from birth and death certificates

James and Jessie had the following children:

i. David Alexander Anderson JESS - was born 11 June 1914 and died 13 Feb 1976

ii..Robert JESS - was born about 1916 in Maybole, Ayrshire. He died about 1965 from Leukemia and was buried in Maybole, Ayrshire.
Robert married Elizabeth CONN-. Elizabeth was born about 1917.
She died 23 Apr 2000 and was buried 26 Apr 2000 in Maybole, Ayrshire.

iii. Jessie Anderson JESS - (my Mum) was born 5 Mar 1919 and died 30 Jul 1951.
iv .James Hazel JESS - was born 11 Apr 1925 in Maybole, Ayrshire.

He died 16 Oct 1980 in Erskine and was buried 18 Oct 1980 in
Clydebank Crematorium, North Dalnottar.

James married Janetta AIRD - in Maybole, Ayrshire.
Janetta was born 19 Sep 1925 in Lanarkshire.

v. Alexander Anderson JESS - was born 1927 in Maybole, Ayrshire.
He died 31 Oct 1989 in Kilmarnock Hospital.

Alexander married Barbara Elizabeth HARVEY- on
Feb 1950. Barbara was born 1930. She died 14 May 1979 in Heathfield Hospital, Ayr.

5.Christina ANDERSON- (Mary) died Circa 1938 ?. Christina married John JONES.

They had the following children:
i. Jackie JONES- was born Circa 1926. He died 1997.
ii. Alexander (Sanny) JONES- was born 29 Dec 1927.
iii. Mary (May) Jones - was born 8 Apr 1932 - She married Duff Cooper
iv. Sadie Jones - was born circa 1938 and died circa 1983
